There's More to Midlife Than Menopause
Menopause may be part of midlife, but midlife is a lot more than just menopause - Naomi Watts
Menopause Matters
Today is World Menopause Day, and the theme for this year is Menopause Hormone Therapy. The International Menopause Society has many wonderful resources on this important topic (including this one) but in keeping with my theme for this year, I want to lean in to more than just hot flashes and hormones.
If you're looking for inspiration on things you can look forward to in this season of life, you might enjoy these quotes I shared on Instagram today.

I should know better.
When September rolls around every year, I’m always the first to say that it feels so busy. Between the end of summer, start of school and getting back into a routine, it feels decidedly chaotic and I always think that it will slow down in October. But, calendars quickly fill up, days get shorter and it feels like December starts barrelling towards us at warp speed.
I came across a post the other day that gave me some food for thought about the intention (or lack of intention) we apply to our lives. I would share it if I could, but I have to go by memory as I didn’t save it. Or if I did, it's in a "safe place" and I can't find it. 😂
The post said something to the effect of "it’s December 31, 2024 and as you reflect on the last three months, you’re thankful that you took a moment in October to create this." I don't usually stop my scroll for posts like these because I’m more of a "que sera sera" kind of person, (or bull in a China shop, you choose) in most areas of my life, but this one stuck with me.
So, as I sat with my coffee in front of my substitute sunshine light one morning, I took a few moments to try and think of a word to describe the intention I wanted to set for the year.

And the word I came up with was Presence
- It’s my oldest daughter’s final year of high school and I want to make this holiday season really memorable.
- In addition to the usual holiday puzzle that I do every year, I want to start knitting again. I've got a knitting project in mind and I want to make sure I have space for it, mentally and emotionally.
- I also don't want to rush into 2025, which means changing up how I run my annual non-diet resolution challenge. Don't worry, it's not going anywhere, but it will start on January 20th instead of January 1st. More to come on that in December.
What would you like the last months of the year to look like?
Would your vision include a more peaceful and easy relationship with food?
If so, you'll definitely want to catch this week's podcast episode with Abbie Attwood. We took a deep dive into 3 of the reasons why intuitive eating can feel hard, and what can help you get through the messy middle.
This would be a great one to watch on YouTube as you can see how much we enjoyed having this conversation!
That's all for now, see you soon!
