Understanding Cultural Meno-Rage with Mona Eltahawy

feminism menopause midlifewomen perimenopause womenshealth

Have you ever stopped to consider that the surge of rage you may be experiencing in perimenopause and menopause could be influenced by more than just your hormones? What if it had a cultural element to it? On this episode, I’ve invited Mona Eltahawy to talk about Meno-rage and how it’s such a unique opportunity to embrace your power. While the patriarchy may push or even shove women in midlife into believing it’s time to become invisible, Mona would say it's time to do just the opposite.

What I love about this conversation is that it acknowledges and celebrates the power that comes with aging. It exposes the urgency we have as women to be fearless, intentionally audacious, and to boldly redefine our narratives in midlife. We also desperately need to hear from a much more diverse set of voices in midlife discussions, and that happens most naturally of course, in community. This is yet another reason to be grateful that this is not your mother’s menopause!

Ultimately, we’d like listeners to view menopause as a gift and take hold of this chance to become shameless in becoming YOU as you grow older. This season of life offers so much strength and confidence if you are willing to seize it!

In this episode you’ll learn:

  •  The definition of mental rage or Meno-rage
  •  The difference between Capital P patriarchy and Small P patriarchy
  •  Why being shameless is so empowering
  •  Why we have to get over a fear of owning our power
  •  How to start valuing your wisdom and contributions more
